Who to take Lead ?

Succession in every front is a biggest challenge; whether it's Lama's, Baba's, family run business houses, political satraps or simply a head of undivided family ;=), Life rocks if things are smooth and you don't see the future through a bigger lens. Environment is conducive, family health is good, earings are decent to meet obligations, no deterrents on your decisions, no pressing problems to address and time for yourself, of-course this results a piece of mind for yourself. But, that's what required to take the Lead. Leaders are strategic thinkers, and managers are doers. Well, to be a leader, you should be a manager, that's global truth. What fallback plan a Leader should have if the proposed action fails during implementation, what's the cost of actualizing, how the sharefolders/promoters will yield to such advances. It's not easy to become a leader and still progressing a life of peace in mind. It's two different parallel tracks of railway. We have exceptions in corporate house, how biz tycoons have managed their family life, and business life well. Truly, to sustain on market trends, technology and innovations, we need to keep upbeat on reading/learning, it's a progressive life, Not like a transactional affair, where an operation ends with a series of transactions and you keep doing some data entry; analysis and think BIG of a managing larger activity. But, what you learn from transactional activity, reporting ?, analyzing data and spreadsheets for correlation, drawing regression to forecast what could happen wrong or whether the datapoints received are of right to utilize in predicting newer activities. Yes, they are essential, but managing these to implement something is pretty transactional, and I never liked this job. Again, without much ado on the constraints where you want to perform, but you still continue to pursue, is something a leader keep on looking above and beyond.
How often you have seen; people coming forward to own certain activity and make it complete. Well, those are managers who manage well to complete certain task within a schedule time. As, overrun of such activity might cost to chequer.
But, then what managers plan themselves how to get the activity to closure with all constraints, then their leadership qualities come into existence. They need to plan on risks, fallback plans, motivation and ensure that all ends well.
Then Leaders do differently what ? Brainstorming, strategic thinking (most abused word), setting vision/mission, growth plans, mergers/acquisition, brand building, marketing, corporate social responsibilities ? But do you think, a single individual gets all Ideas to act like a LEADER anywhere. Definitely NOT, there is a collective source which called Leadership team, that works together to achieve something in market place, internal to org, positioning the brand, and then come out with guidelines and Management team take the charge to implement and ensure such changes in place and visible. What you need is both a strong leadership team and management team to effectively put your thoughts into action ? At home, in nucleus family, I am the leader and manager. At times, spouse does both to augment the fulfillment of a team. But, the question likes the succession PART. More at work place and organization level.
Leading companies have problem with leadership succession ? You don't know those companies; Please mail me, I will list them with probable lookouts as well ---------->

Why Me Always...

Do you know what is sterotype. If not conditioned to any stereotype, listen to me, why Me always...
Being the receiver of public's fury, blast from relatives, blues from family, comments from friends, support from NONE. What's a life that one can lead in DOG EAT DOG market, oops community. Where everything is matrialistic. Spouse looking for earnings to cater her/his needs (buying assets, contemporary living), Friends looking for utilizing you in the best of ability, concept is fast receeding "A friend in need is friend indeed". Now, make use of it and then dump it. Family looks on you as a gold mine and thumping on ethos while cursing on nucleus family bringing.
Why it's me always. The biggest beneficiary of all said and done ;=), Things will change or I need to change for better ways to handle life and seeing cheers in my life, family and friends. Looking forward on this positive note.

Changing Lanes

There is an upbeat in the market, results are promising, worst is behind, there is a stability in the sentiments of market, at-least thats sounding, everyone informing about list of enquiries and orders. Yes, season of change, while looking for winter, Spring surprisingly came to rescue many. Industrialists are supporting economists on revising GDP growth targets, primarily in India. Europe and US might take still time to come up 1 to 2% in GDP, from negative GDP. Unemployment rates are high, there is a sense of protectionsim in the air for outsourcing to cut cost. Do, India still favoured. India internal GDP is strong irrespective of bad crops, moonsoon and catastrophes. Drought like situation to flood like scenario. What's a drastic change in climate, this would be the year after a decade strong of moonsoon supporting our GDP. It's good say that, "Bura waqt mein bhagwan bhi saath chod deta hai".

India rural employment gurrantee scheme, and unemployment scheme at-least striking rural youth to be in rural and not migrate to urban to look out for a job. Job market is not that promising, though there is a feeling of hiring across. Automobile sector have given a robust grwoth on easing loans, RBI still holding the credit policy unchanged. Govt continued to offer stimulus package. These are signs of stability and early recovery in Indian economy. IT services results are promising, though Re appreciation oops, the dollar depreciation is dampening their spirit of sound profits. Companies who have hedged aggressively are the loosers when $ was appreciating, and who let go as it is, they are the kings. CFO's are listening ;=)

Companies have started giving compensation hikes, dearness of food items are so much that, every salary employee is looking for his employer to free some bucks for them. Govt employees are the favourite of every retail giant, as they are the maximum beneficiary of six pay commission and getting disposable income in hand. Sales team in companies who were struggling to retain their incentives and bonuses are smiling happy in seeing their order book piling up.

Yes, there is a change in environment and really things are changing it's lanes. People are setting their mind to consume again rather from savings. Booming in infrastructure, govt spending in infrastructure, banks easing loans boosting realty sector, consumption of consumers are in up-beat, Really the diwali has come with all good spirits. Things are bullish, Are they mad like capital market. Who knows. but it's sure that things are changing... Hopefully change is good and at the same time constant.

How Professional life sucks ;=)

Did you ever thought of your life in school/college days; and thinking of people who has money and lavishly spending without being questioned and wandering when you become like that. Yes, we do most of the time, and every passing phase is a point of rememberance.
When I recollect my initial days in professional life; it was no-care for anyone and no-harm for anyone attitude. Then slowly pressure mounts from peers, families, surroundings. Peers on type of work, renumeration, personality change / makeover. Families to take up more responsibilities, support system, cartel on ill spent and surrounding pressurizing to bent on ethos. So many constraints start building upon you without much do to life, What's the heck...
With a normal life having less troublesome job, it's Ok. If any economy sliding hit badly to sectorial growth, then life become miserable, as everyone and anyone will become boss of you and try to squeeze what nobody would think of.
Let's talk of a customer and service provider scenario. Customer taking the advantage of slowdown, will negotiate largely on cost, quality and time. Employer negotiate with employees on productivity, discpline, cutting cost in terms of hike/allowances and progression. Motivation of employee is secondary during slowing economy. What about brand factor among employees and outside world. Truly, human rememberance is decaying and they will forget in no-time. So, a firm with low motivational factor as well survive in a long run.
Tolerance levels have gone down in service industry. Fata-Fat generation requires everything right on the first time. It's good to have that, but mostly it falls short in such expectation. Customer is king, in the slowing economy, service provider can't take everything for a ride. In market, there is a comeptition and there are several bidders with similar size and scope competiting to get the pie of the sectorial growth target.
Managing people, mobilizing them to achieve common goal, motivating them to work as a team, orienting them to behave cohesively, Isn't it a challenge that needs to be overcomed in professional life. Debate still on or rathr conitnue which service is good. Public sector when their pay packet is increased to competitive salaries of private sector. What quality of service that anyone expects from this life ;=)

Hyderabad Trip

After a decent gap of 7 odd years, I have decided to travel in sleeper class thinking a overnight journey from Bangalore to Hyderabad won't make life miserable in moonsoon time. It was a decision to meet up co-brother family at Hyderabad to celebrate jointly Navaratri and Dussera. And of-course taking advantage of my Son's pre-school vacation and visiting few tourist attractions at Hyd. When I board with my family in Kacheguda express, I was sweating like anything and it didn't offer any respite till the end of travel. As my Son is growing, it's difficult to manage him in the sleeper berth. But, finally decided the decision wasn't right not to take AC coach while saving few bucks for sleeper. Anyway, landed in the early morning ;=) of-course with sweating .. My co-brother location offset to central Hyderabad at Saroor nagar.

Day 1: It was Sunday, Non-Veggie day. With my Co-Brother, visited nearby fish shop, bought Rohu fish and my sis-in-law prepared well Machha-Besara. Had a nice food and slept well. In the evening; visited with family a nearby tank bund park. In the evening, bought Haleem and eat nicely.
Day 2: Monday, Being Ramzan, preferred to stay indoors as Hyderbad roads would be crowded with traffic and people shopping. Kidz are making noise all around and my Co-brother handled well to maintain discpline. Waiting my Bro-in-law to visit the next day; so that everyone at home can start Hyd tour.
Day 3: Tuesday, late start to Hyderabad visit. Thinking to visit Charminar and Golkonda Fort. With family after food thought of going out from home and catch a Auto. Enquired a gentleman about the best route to reach Golkonda Fort. To my surprise, the person said, you need to enquire Quilla rather then Fort. And said, I need to go to charminar and take a bus from there. Hyderabad buses charges very nominal fee, I can say 50% cheaper than Bangalore BMTC fares. From Saroor Nagar, took an Shared Auto costing 20 bucks to reach Dilsukhnagar bus stop. It was afternoon 2 PM, hence decided to take the bus thinking of lesser traffic. Took a bus that goes to Nampalli, it is the central district of Hyderabad, where Deccan Rly station is located. There enquired bus to Golkonda, and people stated buses arrive in erratic timings and no clue when would be the next bus. Hired an Auto to reach Golkonda. With Kiddo's, it's a challenge to step up the steep steps of Golkonda, but, it was a nice experience to view the heritage. Didn't forget to capture few pics of same. On return, boarded a MaxiCab to reach Mehdipattanam and from there, a direct bus to DilsukhNagar. It was a nice experience, as evening time for office returning folks and you get to talk with different set of people and their life experience. I meet with a sales folk and he was quite funny. Can't describe what stupid talks with talk, but finding such a person is really remarkable. Upon reaching Dilsukhnagar, found that none of the shared auto's are not willing to go Saroor nagar, reasons are quite funny there as well. They haven't paid hafta to cops and hence cops moved their temporary shed to pick up persons to elsewhere. After wandering for 10 mins, found a hired auto to reach home. It was a long half-day with Kid's making life miserable within and outside the visits. My Co-brother on his return from office, got some spicy chilli bhajji.
Day 4: Called up a Meru Cab to visit Ramoji FilmCity. Reached before 10 AM at FilmCity. Built on a huge mountain terrain. Surprised how Ramoji had thought of this venture. Adult ticket cost is 400 Rs. Though I have visited Universal studios at Orlando, with family this experience again going to be different. In-fact they liked it. Foods are not allowed, and it was a sunny/sweating day. Typical Hyderabad climate. My wife and sis/bro-in-law and co-bro took the ride of Ranger and it was a horrifying experience for them. Kids really enjoyed the day outing. At 7 PM, we are back to entrance and enquiring about Cab, as Meru folks told they only can come post 8 PM. Fortunately a Omni cab agreed to drop us with a decent price. God is good for all. Thank you God. After return, myself and Co-brother hunted for a decent restaurant so that we can buy Great Hyderabadi Dum Chicken Biriyani and finally we got a super restaurant and bought. Wow, what a dish. Everyone enjoyed the food, it's aroma and taste.
Day 5: After lunch, decided to visit few parks in Hyderabad for Children play area. Oh yes, IMAX viewing was part of agenda. Took a hired auto from Saroor nagar directly to Prasad's IMAX theater, bought a IMAX 3D movie (Under the Sea), it was only 40 mins documentary movie, but cost us 200 bucks per adult. What an amazing experience to view IMAX and kids really enjoyed the 3D, where all under water sea creatures. Then moved to NTR park, and then Lumbini park. Walked aroung Husain Sagar, but didn't visit the Budha statue island. Came to know that Laser show will get delayed, planned to return and got a Auto to home back. Traffic was horrible, but decent compared to B'lore snail traffic. Again, My Co-brother got Chicken biriyani today as well and had nice sweets.
Day 6: Stayed at home and eat food / egg biriyani / mutton curry and so many....
Day 7: Day to return B'lore and catch a train in evening. My sis-in-law was busy cooking all the days. With nice food and ease from work/bangalore traffic. I really enjoyed my stay.

Boys DayOut...to Re-energize yourself. It helps in Creativity

It's been 2 odd months that I have been living like a forced bachelor. No constraint on return timings from office, shopping for whole week, run around behind kids, wait time for the food frm spouse, play with your Kiddo, what I have with me .. My Quality time, Time that I can invest on myself, to introspect on what life has given and how to shape life further in future. Time for thought leadership, taking up pending issues and review of current stock of situations and think inwards ;=)
Poaching by friends, inundated by acquitances, neighbours getting jealous of this freedom. Before marriage bachelor, post marriage bachelor is a different experience. Time to read, read and read. Do I favouring the pros or cons of such freedom. Not really, It's a boredom if not socialized within a short period. So, short ephuoria for getting singled out, having time for everything anything. At the same time, valuing others and keeping distance from all intruded privacies. A feeling of different circumstances in leading alone life. Try once; you may like it. And It's good for you... Ahh!!!!
Before getting into much details on daily routines, and struggling to food all-days. I found one of my close friend as well turned Forced Bachelor; Wow !!! It's like going back to mediveal days of bachelor stay. We have time to discuss on common issues, challenging theories, re-inventing something that might not have taken precedence if glued with social life. As the day goes, nostalgic on yester years of bachelor days gets firm on the minds and started thinking of venturing to life the way we want them to be everyday. Let me share a more recent experience.

Both thought to go and have snacks party at Infosys AGM meeting at Christ College, what a lousy thought, it makes us to think we have grown so aged that running for a snacks packet at Infy AGM. It's not that 1300% dividend ephuoria make us thought in that way. As plans being debated and killed as we near to the time, we changed our Mind and thought of eating in a Punjabi Dhaba somewhere in the outskirts of Bangalore, But where ... Let's try out in Bellary Road, Tumkur Road, or Mysore road.. Hey, we don't know how to reach there. We have decent hatchback and Sedan cars, but prefer to go to age old days of bachelor and tried to reach out BMTC buses to have a darshan of North Bangalore. So, target is Bellary road in NH7 some Dhaba... Charpai, Chicken Tandoori, Lassi (Oh Not Again, It's BEER).
Came out from Apt, walked for a mile and get into a bus. My friend wasn't entered BUS since years (possibly post CAR buy-out, or restricted him for Volvo rides only). I was somewhat connected with BMTC bus and it's access. Quickly bought 2 day pass that costs 30 Rs per head when boarded the train like bus to Majestic. Well, Majestic (KempeGowda Bus Stand), is the central district of Bus connectivity.
All cut through traffic in peak 4 PM on Saturday, reaching Majestic at 5:30 PM. Prior to the day, we just had Andhra Thali, with chicken and fish fries. So, we were ready to skip snacks, but don't want to skip our evening Tea. Rushed to a hotel within BMTC bus-stand and ask for Tea. While sipping in, enquired to a Driver; which bus goes to Bellary road or which platform the bus will leave. With a deep surprise look, he moved his hand to a direction that won't lead to platform, but we got the first indication of pillar to post affect. Reached platform 20 odd 23 areas and keep on asking Drivers and Conductors and stand-up administrator for the bus that goes to Bellary road. They were asking us in - turn, where will we go. We are clueless, which was our destination. It was only in our mind that, if the bus reaches outskirts and runs on HN7, if we see a Dhaba, we will get down and have food there and return to NEST. Very Noble thought...
Somehow we got into a Bus that goes to Bellary road, finally end up knowing, it's nowhere bellary road, but leaves 2 KM before Hebbal flyover, well it's not the direct road, it goes through cultivation land and lush green area. Thought of enquiring whether an AUTO will help from here, but when enquired, they said, we need to reach the Flyover and lookout for buses that goes towards Bellary... Walked for 20 mins, reached Hebbal Flyover again.... Boarded a Suvarna bus which was going to Doddaballapur, thinking it would take the BIAL road and we could see there would be nice/decent Dhaba's of our choice. But, it took a village road, Again ruined our sentiments and venturing out badly at 7:30 PM. Here it is Old Yelhanka town bus stop and we saw a large sea of people getting into Bus. We thought, at that time, BUS is leading to a unknown territory and we would be in trouble, much of our problem, we forced us to get down in the next stop and walked towards Yelhanka New town. Enquired to a Young Lad on Family Dhaba restaruants and new that, round the township there is something we can explore. When we reached Mother Dairy junction, an Old gentleman guided us a direction where a nice Dhaba with Hut structure well suited for a family outing is there. Wow. Bingo !!!! We thought of taking an AUTO, but saw the township just like Rourkela sector view, never saw such in Bangalore, Come on much much more decent and slush greenery than any developed BDA areas in B'lore. You must go and see that place. Huge Parks, govt provided row houses (colonies), fewer vehicles on the road, just in orrisa, girls and boys driving cycles and returning from tuition. Wow homely atmosphere. We walked for 2 KM and no sign of the site, came to New yelhanka junction and in next 1 KM, we traced the treasurer, Yes.. A Dhaba... It was 8:15 PM by than. We were tied with walking and we consoled ourselves that we have had good walk and needn't to go again on the terrace in the night for shedding the fab that accumulated over the these years. Took each one a KF strong BEER and started ordering, masala papad, chicken tandoori kabab, Chicken masala, Ginger chicken, salad...A much required meal of this adventure really needed and that Dhaba served right purpose. That Old gentleman re-directed us to the right destination. Mild sweet pan and then started backwards journey. While looking to buy a Kenley/Aquafine packaged water bottle, empty bus came shouting Majestic, Wow.. Wonders... Rushed inside and took the cool breeze at 9:45 PM at night back to Majestic area. Reached Majestic ahead of 10:30 PM and had our drinks (water from Kingfisher again) and started looking for a bus that comes to Bommannahalli area, much to time, a bus towards Attibele reached and we just moved in and found decent seats for rest of the jaunt that ended at 11:30 PM. Mission accomplished and A day out without aiming where to reach and have fun across the roaming time in BMTC bus. I must say, the frequency of BMTC buses have been improved and their service levels are not that bad. A day pass of 30 bucks is so cheap for such a round around journies, Value for money and we contributed a large to Eco sustainable energy and reducing carbon footprint of world by not opting to ventured out in our gas guzzlers. Have you any-time tried like this. Getting out of the comfort zone, no absolute planning, willing to walk the talk, re-inventing the past memories, if not, Try Once, it's re-energizes you very vitally. Its a way of re-energizing so that you can be elevated much more then before and start working towards a better social life and productive at work place. Till, I get to ventured something else, till than Sayonara...

Pondy Trip. On progressing to 7th Marriage Anniversary

I drove from B'lore to Pondy on a early Saturday; started at 5:30 AM early morning.
But manage to reach pondy at 4 PM in the afternoon. With so many breaks due to Boji's motion sickness and Omi's delayed food intake. Checked-in the resort (Zest@ Big Beach); jumped to Swimming pool without any consideration. Pondy state highway is not good, and big big potholes are around. It's a bumpy ride. But, driving from Hosur to Krishnagiri was superb.
I took a package where Breakfast and Dinner was included. Food was good. There were lots of couples and family enjoying the weekend there. Resort was good. Rock band with DJ was playing late evening.
I had gone to Beach in the next day (Sunday) morning; and Omi started playing with sands.
Back for Breakfast and took little rest and started towards Pondy city to visit few of the places. But only manage to see beach road (M.G statue) and few french old bldgs. Had food in the city at Jayram restaurant. Drove to Chennambur (hope I got it correct), boat house for beach island trip. But, narrowly missed by 15 mins when the last boat left.
With Kid's it's difficult to plan, as Omi takes significant time in eating; and it was hot and humid; so couldn't rove around much. Possible needs to plan plainly for Pondy to visit Ashram and Matri Mandir. At that time; I would like to stay in Ashram by paying 100 bucks a day with all inclusive. Coollllllll...
Back to resort, rush to Beach side and later dumped again in swimming pool. Played few games for Sunday DJ party. Had dinner. Beach resort offered complimnetary Cake for Marriage Anniversary. Next day; after breakfast, we started at 11:30 AM towards B'lore and reached 8:30 PM at B'lore.
Beach resort is good. It's well maintained and pretty new as well. I was always scared by hearing those roaring noise of Sea thinking anytime tsunami would come. I remember the tsunami days; where the Cuddalore was maximum impact; and we are close to 7 KM from Cuddalore. Yes, the beach is 16 KM from Pondy town and off Cuddalore road.
It's a tiring journey and possibly 2 days is less for a resort stay. I learnt something; if the motto is to carry out sightseeing; it's best to choose a place within city and maximize the tourist attractions. But, if you are in resorts; maximize the facilities; they are hugh and time just flies......
